Everything Dumfries is now in one place

What’s happening in Dumfries this weekend? Where can you find great local businesses? Which community groups are right on your doorstep?

Remember when answering these questions meant a lengthy internet search, scrolling through social media and hoping you hadn’t missed anything? Not any more.

“Our Dumfries” is a brand-new Digital Town Hub developed by Dumfries Town Board, with funding from Pride in Place, and delivered in partnership with Loqiva. It brings together everything Dumfries in one place, making it easier for people to shop local, support local and be part of their Dumfries community.

For local businesses, the platform offers another opportunity to get noticed. Shops, cafés, restaurants and other independent businesses can showcase what they do, share offers and reach people who might otherwise never come across them. Community organisations and groups can also promote activities and help more people get involved.

The technology will help Dumfries make more of the activity, talent and enterprise already within the town.  Joanne Johnstone is the Programme Manager for Dumfries Town Board:

“Our ambition for Dumfries is to deliver tangible, high-impact projects that make a meaningful difference to the town. That’s exactly what Loqiva brings to the table with its Digital Town Hub technology.

What’s particularly exciting is the ability to bring the digital and physical worlds together. As well as the Our Dumfries app, we will be broadcasting content from Our Dumfries onto digital screens around the town, meaning that we can help people get the most out of our town, wherever they are.”

Marcus Chidgey from Loqiva added:

“The challenge for any town is making sure people know about what it has to offer. It’s no use having great businesses, events and community activities if local people can’t find them.

Our Dumfries brings all that information together, but it can also take it beyond the phone. Newsletters, emails, digital screens, and website integrations mean more opportunities for people to engage with Dumfries and play a part in the future of the town. We’re excited to be a part of that journey.”

Dumfries joins Loqiva’s growing network of Digital Town Hubs across the UK, helping towns and cities connect local businesses, events, community groups and services through a shared digital platform.

The Our Dumfries app will be available to download from the App Store and Google Play store in November 2026.
