At Loqiva, we’re implementing our digital town hub platform in towns and cities around the UK to help local communities deliver economic growth, social cohesion and local engagement.

Our clients are local councils and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). We’re innovating with technologies like IoT and Open Banking, and we’re one of the UK’s leading technology businesses.

We’re looking to hire a Social Media & Content Assistant who is passionate about digital places, citizen services and smart cities.

What You'll Be Doing

Working within an experienced team to lead on social media and creating content for our digital town hubs. You will work closely with the Community Manager, Sales Manager and CEO to drive and support communications campaigns.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter, who thrives in busy environments and has a genuine passion for supporting local towns and communities.

The ability to multi-task, work calmly under pressure and be a strong collaborative team player are vital as is knowledge of platforms like Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook and Instagram.

An understanding of how to plan content for social and digital channels is essential. Experience with social management systems like Hootsuite and content manipulation tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere etc would also be extremely helpful.

We are looking for someone who is creative, with excellent communication skills - both written and spoken - who works well as part of a close-knit team.

This is an ideal first job for someone who has recently graduated from a media/marketing university or college course. Alternatively, someone who has 1-2 years professional experience working in social media or communications.

Lead Developer

Loqiva provides a digital hub to connect place managers, local businesses and residents on one platform. The core functionality of the platform is built and implemented across multiple installations with further development pending.

The Lead Developer’s role is to assure the successful execution of the company’s business mission through the development and deployment of the Loqiva software. It requires an in-depth knowledge of full-stack development in a LAMP environment and an ability to develop and maintain the software’s technical architecture.

Strategy & Planning

  • Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks and the deployment stack) for delivering the company’s services.
  • Design and developing high quality, maintainable web applications that scale and adapt to changing tech trends as well as leading code reviews and contributing towards technical decision making.
  • Participate as a member of the management team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately and the organisation’s resources are used responsibly,
  • particularly in the areas of software development, office networks and computers and telecommunications.
  • Engage and collaborate with the appropriate contract or full-time resource to assess and recommend technologies that support company organisational needs.

Implementation & Deployment

  • Use web-based internal communications systems, such as Slack and JIRA and bug tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with the management team and potential customers to develop use cases (or user stories) and specifications that describe the implementation of the company’s services as a web or mobile application.
  • Collaborate with a User Experience Designer and potential customers to prepare wireframes or mockups for future prototype web and mobile applications.
  • Select and manage company staff or outsourced vendors.
  • Select and help define the company’s software development methodology (with guidance from a technical advisor).
  • Establish a specification conformance and testing regimen based on user stories and the User Experience design.
  • Promote the latest coding conventions and documentation standards.
  • Regularly review and update current best practices for the Loqiva framework.
  • Establish and supervise the software development process, setting short-term objectives and assessing progress as defined by the selected software development methodology.
  • Conduct code reviews and specification conformance testing as defined by the selected software development methodology.
  • Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing.
  • Select, deploy, and monitor performance profiling tools and procedures.
  • Review and approve proposed development releases and manage the release process.
  • Evaluate and select web application hosting providers.
  • Establish an application deployment process and supervise deployment to staging and production servers.
  • Monitor application performance and review any application failures in staging or production.
  • Establish and monitor an analytics regime that measures traffic and application usage relative to 
business goals.
  • Establish a process to integrate customer service and support with the software engineering process to support resolution of customer issues and improve application usability.

Operational Management

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices by attending relevant conferences and reading widely.
  • Define and communicate company values and standards for acquiring or developing systems, equipment, or software within the company. 
  • Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organisation. 
  • Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organisation’s investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders with regard to the company’s technological vision, opportunities, and challenges. 
  • Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner. 
  • Assist with the control the development and deployment annual operating and capital budgets for operations
  • Promote achievement of the company’s business goals within a context of community collaboration by developing policies for sharing software code, technological innovation, business processes, and other intellectual property. 
  • Contribute to open source software development, standardisation of technologies, and evolution of best practices by collaborating with peers outside the company, releasing code, presenting at conferences, and writing for publication (online or offline). 

Key Attributes

  • Extensive expertise in PHP/LAMP and other open source technologies
  • Ability to conceptualise and efficiently schedule new features of the platform
  • Effective problem-solver who can lead on technical requirements within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Android and iOS mobile development, SOAP/REST APIs.
  • Experience of DevOps and best practise deployment methodologies
  • Knowledge of UNIX, Apache web servers and monitoring client environments.
  • Experience with Zend PHP, MongoDB, VMWare a bonus
  • A Computer Science degree from an established university.
  • Ability to remote work independently and effectively from a UK location.
