Sam Sharp, Huddersfield BID Manager, said: “The three key pillars for the 2024-2029 term are Enhance, Engage and Enterprise.  The Hello Huddersfield app will Enhance the town experience, Engage with all of our stakeholders, and offer a new and exciting channel for Enterprise within the town.

“This app is the perfect way to deliver on our promises, while also strengthening the bonds within our community and creating an exciting future for the residents and businesses of Huddersfield.”

Huddersfield has a lot to be proud of.  It is steeped in history, having been a market town since Anglo-Saxon times, and boasting award-winning Victorian architecture including over 200 listed buildings in the town centre alone.  Its diverse attributes include being the home of the ancient Castle Hill monument, as well as the birthplace of rugby league.

Alongside that rich heritage, there’s a new Huddersfield – a hotbed of culture and independent business.  The town is home to the UK’s largest international festival of contemporary music and an award-winning literature festival. It has a great independent shopping scene, with the architectural gem that is Byram Arcade, as well as the Packhorse Centre and Kingsgate Shopping Centre all housing local retailers with their own distinctive character.

It is clear to see why the town feels so special to its residents and visitors.

Hello Huddersfield Platform

Marcus Chidgey, co-founder of Loqiva said:

At Loqiva, we believe that communities should use technology on their own terms so that people can take better care of each other. They should own their own data and promote their own brand – these elements are so important in building strong, supportive communities.

“Sam and the Huddersfield BID understand the importance of local identity. Over the past few years they have created the perfect conditions to allow a digital town hub to thrive – by fostering local pride, supporting their dynamic retailers and planning for the future of the town.  We are delighted to partner with them to realise their vision for Huddersfield”

The Hello Huddersfield app is expected to be soft launched to businesses in May 2024 and will be available for public download by June 2024.
