Blackpool BID and Loqiva have announced the launch of the “Go Blackpool” Digital Town Hub, a groundbreaking initiative which will change how the residents and businesses of the town engage with their community.
The Go Blackpool digital town hub offers something unique to the town. The technology includes the ultimate local app for Blackpool residents and visitors, combined with powerful marketing and e-commerce tools for the town’s businesses, as well as analytics and communication tools for the BID team.
Sue Grindrod is the Managing Director at Blackpool BID:
“We’re really excited to introduce GO Blackpool, which will be a game-changer for how businesses and visitors interact in our town. This app will greatly benefit the local economy and enhance the overall Blackpool experience; our goal is to sign up 200 businesses in the first three months and achieve 1,000 app downloads by year-end.
“This launch marks a significant milestone in our commitment to innovation and growth. GO Blackpool is not just a tool – it’s a platform that will transform the way people engage with local businesses and attractions. By making information and offers readily accessible, we aim to create a thriving, connected ecosystem that benefits everyone in Blackpool.”
“Blackpool BID is truly committed to promoting our local businesses and this marks a noticeable step in driving growth and supporting Blackpool in its future.”
Blackpool is best known for its beautiful beaches and lively nightlife. Each year, tourists are drawn to Blackpool Tower, the world famous Illuminations and the Pleasure Beach. But those attractions are only scratching the surface of a town filled with culture and heritage.
Blackpool has an exciting local art scene, with The Grundy as the focal point for contemporary art for over 100 years. Meanwhile, the recently restored Winter Gardens is one of the leading exhibition, fair, and conference destinations in the UK, and hosts the British National Dance Championships every year.
Fans of retail therapy have plenty of options, including the Houndshill Shopping Centre for high street fashion, The Regent for antiques, crafts, and vintage, and the new look Abingdon Street Market for the foodies.
This is clearly a town with a lot to offer, and plenty more to come.
Barry Conlon, co-founder of Loqiva said: “We are particularly excited about the scale of the opportunity in Blackpool. As the UK’s most popular resort town, with 20 million annual visitors, the town centre deserves the very best digital tools in order to maximise its potential.
“We are thrilled to be working with Sue and the Blackpool BID team to bring our digital town hub technology to such an iconic UK location. The future is looking really bright for Blackpool”
The Go Blackpool app is expected to be soft launched to businesses in June 2024 and will be available for public download by July 2024.
