API & Data Terms Of Use

Using data from our Digital Town Hubs

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of APIs and file downloads providing access to data from Loqiva’s digital town hub platform ("Loqiva," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using our APIs and data, you (the "API User") acknowledge that:

  • You use the APIs and data at your sole risk.
  • You agree to comply with these Terms.
  • These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

2. License & Permitted Use

Loqiva provides access to the following APIs and file formats:

  • Events API: JSON, CSV, ICS formats
  • Offers API: JSON, CSV formats
  • Business Directory API: JSON, CSV formats
  • Business Categories API: JSON, CSV formats

Loqiva grants the API User a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the data for commercial purposes, subject to the following conditions:

Permitted Use

  • The APIs & data can used by non-profit and commercial organisations to republish content to websites and other displays within their network.
  • The use of data must benefit local businesses using Loqiva’s digital town hub platforms by increasing their audience and reach.
  • The API User must store the data locally on their servers for operational use, e.g. querying events data on a webpage, and only request data at times agreed with Loqiva to manage Loqiva's server load.
  • The API User must automatically delete time-based data, e.g. Events that finish and Offers that expire, within 90 days from their servers.
  • The API User must be prepared to supply audience figures to Loqiva upon request.

Prohibited Use

  • The data must not be sold to third parties.
  • The data must not be aggregated or blended with other data and sold based on its statistical value, or placed in any analytics dashboard or online tool.
  • The data must not be modified except for excluding or abbreviating content for layout or functional purposes.
  • The data must not be used for revenue generation by using it for affiliate links, commissions or sales lead generation.
  • The data must not be distributed beyond the API User’s control and authority.

Loqiva reserves the right to require the API User to update or take down content as necessary. The API User must comply with such requests promptly.

3. Other Prohibited Uses

The API User must not:

  • Use the data in a manner that breaches any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Misrepresent the source or ownership of the data.
  • Use the data in any way that could harm Loqiva, its partners, or participating businesses.
  • Transfer, sublicense, or allow third parties to access the data without prior written consent from Loqiva.
  • Ignore the data request restrictions (failure to comply will make the API User liable for any investigation or remedies involving the performance of Loqiva's servers).

4. Limitations of Commercial Use & Breach 

If the API User intends to sell the data (e.g. via API feeds or file downloads), or create commercial products that derive direct value from the data (e.g. statistical reports, analysis tools or data dashboards), with data originating from Loqiva’s platform for commercial benefit, they must notify Loqiva and agree to separate terms governing such use.

If the API User breaches any terms of this agreement, they shall be liable to compensate Loqiva for all damages, including but not limited to:

  • Costs incurred to rectify the breach
  • Lost revenue and profits
  • Compensation and damages
  • Any other financial losses attributable to the breach

5. Liability & Indemnification

  • Loqiva provides the APIs and data "as is" and makes no warranties regarding accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
  • Loqiva shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages arising from the use of its APIs or data.
  • The API User agrees to indemnify and hold Loqiva harmless against any claims, damages, losses, or expenses resulting from misuse of the data or failure to comply with these Terms.
  • From time to time, Loqiva may update the APIs. The API User will be required to make technical changes at their own cost to ensure the data continues to be received as expected.

6. Termination

Loqiva reserves the right to terminate or suspend API access at any time. Upon termination, the API User must immediately cease using the data and delete all stored copies.

7. Changes to Terms

Loqiva reserves the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the APIs after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
